Born in the Tundra of Minnesota, I have since become a bit of a Gypsy. Currently calling home base the hot sands of Arizona, I do still travel often. Whether the journey is a physical one, or one taken by reading a fantastic book it doesn't matter, the fun is always in the adventure. As always I am an eclectic person that likes a wide array of things and has many passions. Creating, advocating for animals and Mothering just to name a few.

This weeks Saturday Sanctuary asks: What do you do for the holidays?

It is the one thing on just above everyone’s mind these days the Holidays. No matter what you celebrate (or even if you do not) it is hard to miss this time of year. Personally because in our household we have different beliefs then the majority of the family so we tend to do our own thing. Now that is not to say we do not love the family and do not get together with them. When schedules allow we do, but sometimes the schedules are just all over the place. So keeping a nice simple schedule at home is a good way to go about it.

Christmas eve shows a lighting of the fireplace having a nice little gathering, watching some movies or telling some Holiday stories. We tend to focus on Santa or something Yule related.

Tuck all the kids into bed and wait for Santa….eat some cookies you know the drill *wink* Don’t forget the carrots for the reindeer.

Christmas Day there is the opening of presents of course and a nice meal. The thing is we don’t go overboard with it because if you do it gets to be to stressed. I think way to many people get overwhelmed and over done for the Holidays. Keeping a laid back Kiwi view of things is really the better idea don’t you think?
