You all know I am a Sherlock beast fan, lol so I was happy to see this article and had to share it with everyone.
Good news for fans of Sherlock, co-creator Steven Moffat has said the hit BBC show could be around for a very long time.
And the reason for its longevity could be down to the way the detective drama starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as Dr Watson is filmed.
Moffat who is also the Doctor Who showrunner told the Guardian newspaper at the Cannes Lions advertising festival in France: “Had we done the conventional form of a TV series which is to do runs of six or twelve, it would be over by now without doubt, it would be finished.
“Because [the cast] would never again commit that amount of time that regularly to a TV show, they just wouldn’t, why would they?
“But given the strange form of Sherlock which is every two-and-a-half years we get together and we make three, means that it can go on for a very long time.”
Scenes from the third series of Sherlock were filmed at the Daffodil restaurant in Cheltenham and there has been no announcement about when the next series will be broadcast.
Both Cumberbatch and Freeman have become huge stars Cumberbatch starred in Star Trek Into Darkness while Freeman is starring in The Hobbit trilogy of films.
